“Chemanol announces occurrence of a fire incident in one of its SNF production units in Jubail on Monday 6/5/1434 (March 18th, 2013). Production in the affected unit will halt temporarily until technical evaluation and other measures are taken. Business in other SNF production units and other plants remain unaffected and will continue as usual. Thankfully, no human loss or major injuries occurred but only minor injuries and one isolated case of breathing difficulty were reported. All these medical situations were attended to and treated on the spot.
Investigations are currently underway to identify the cause of the fire and assess its financial impact noting that the unit affected is fully insured. Further progress and developments will be announced duly.
In total, Chemanol produces about 170,000 MT of SNF per year of which 25% is produced in the affected unit. Our technical team is working continuously to resume production at the earliest. Chemanol had recently announced capacity increase of SNF production of 60,000 MT to be commercially available from 2015.”
