Highlights of CCL Final between MD plant & IT-Finance: The battle lines were drawn for a grand finale as two of the tournament’s finest teams were fighting for absolute glory – CCL 2012 championship !! Everyone was smiling or rather trying to hide their anxieties and nervousness for the big game.

IT-Finance captain Rakesh called right and immediately opted to bat first. Fresh from 2 overnight victories, the IT-Finance team who had stormed into the finals needed a steady start from openers Sheikhoo (Salim Sheikh) and Saadat Ahmed. Captain Sachin of MD had other ideas and applied good pressure that saw Sheikhoo succumb early. Mujaheed who followed Sheikhoo helped to lay a good foundation for the hitters. Here again disciplined bowling led by Sachin and Alpesh had the IT-Finance team struggling who managed to score 110, thanks to some late slogging by Rakesh.

Chasing 111, looked like a walk in the park for the MD team as it had posted scores of 140 plus on two previous occasions!! And truly, the chase began onright track with the in-form Alpesh whacking the tournament’s best bowler, Saeed, for a six in his very first over. He followed that with more hits and it looked like that the match would be a one sided affair till Ismail took a stunner of the bowling of Sadath to get rid of Alpesh. Sachin, the tournament’s best batsman, followed and he took off from where Alpesh had left. But with his fall, to a spectacular catch by Mujahid, the writing on the wall was clear: The favorites for the title were seeing the cup slip out of their hands!! IT-Finance emerged as the champions of CCL 2012!!! Captain Rakesh of IT-Finance for his haul of 3 wickets and a knock of 22 runs was the Man of the Match and the Man of the Tournament. With this win, the IT-Finance completed its dream run to remain unbeaten in the entire tournament!

The Fintex team definitely did not have stalwarts in their team but as Alpesh from MD plant rightly said it is the team effort that wins you tournaments as individuals can only win you a game or two. That the game was played in the right spirit of brotherhood and harmony was evident from the fact that both teams hugged each other after the match! In the end, We Remain United as Chemanol!!!

We take this opportunity to thank our VP - Mr. Safadi, who is also the chairman of the Sports Committee, for his continuous encouragement to Sports and Cultural activities at Chemanol. Under his guidance, we look forward to organizing more such events in the future.
